Dear Parents and Carers,
As you would have heard from Victoria Town, our Canteen Manager and chef extraordinaire, we now have a state-of-the-art coffee machine installed in the canteen. Thank you to the SCC for supporting the purchase of the machine. We can see by the potential sales of coffee (and hot chocolates) to the staff and the parents that it will pay for itself in no time, while also providing a service to our adult community members. We will also be able to provide good quality coffee to our parents and carers who come to Friendship Friday/ Playgroup and other events throughout the year.
On the Subject of Good Coffee
TEAMKIDS are having a coffee van here at school next Monday morning from 7:30am until 9:30am. So whether you’re dropping your child at TEAMKIDS from 7:30am or bringing them to school from 8:30am, you are welcome to enjoy a free coffee or hot chocolate from the van that will be in the carpark. You can even stay and have a chat with some other parents and carers as they will be serving coffee until 9:30am.
Thank you to TEAMKIDS for providing this. What a great way to start the week.
Hats On!
Now that we are into August, it is time to return to wearing school hats. Please take a moment over the weekend to remind your child to find it and put it in their bag. Students without a school hat from Monday will play in a designated, shaded play spaces. New hats can be purchased at Savvy in Tuggeranong or from the front office for $10 (legionnaire caps are $8)
Save the Date
On Friday 3 September we will be hosting a Father's Day afternoon from 3:20-4:30pm. This will take place in the playground and surrounds. It will include some fun sports activites for the families and also a sausage sizzle dinner served at 4pm. There will be more information coming next week along with a call out for mums and carers as helpers.
Remote Learning
Thank you for letting us know via the survey if your child will require a device for Remote Learning (should there be a need to).
Parents and carers will receive an email next week with all their child’s log on details and passwords for the online platforms we utilise. It’s a good idea for you to have those regardless of whether Remote Learning happens. We have looked at the copious amount of feedback we received last year about your experience of Remote Learning and will be using that information to guide us if it happens again. But while we are still COVID free, I will continue to remind you that if your child is unwell with cold or flu like symptoms, please do not send them to school as you will be receiving a phone call and asked to take them home. It is imperative that we have as healthy an environment at school as possible and we know and respect this understanding for the good of all. Thank you for your cooperation with this important matter.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson

RE Week 4 - Who do you say I am?
First Holy Communion 2021
Over the past 4 weeks, 25 young members of our community have been preparing to receive Eucharist for the first time. The children have participated in activities, reflections and prayers within their families as well as in small groups. Through this program, they have come to understand the incredible gift Jesus offers us through the Eucharist and to embrace the unique way it joins us the community of believers.
The children have been guided by their family, the families of their peers, their teachers, Trudie, Joe, and you, the parishioners through your prayers and greetings. How lucky they are to be nurtured in their faith by so many people.
On Friday 6th August the children will participate in a Retreat Day led by the teachers, Joe and the Youth Ministry Team. It is wonderful to have the Youth Ministry Team share their faith with the younger students through this day.
The Mass for First Holy Communion will be on Thursday 12th August at 6pm. Due to number restrictions, this will be for the recipients and their families only. However, we are grateful to the choir, Acolyte and Altar Servers for offering their time so generously to contribute to the celebration of the Mass.
The children are grateful to you for your prayers and support.

Our annual Book Week dress up day will be held on Friday 27 August.
This is always a fabulous day and we look forward to sharing it with your children.
Don’t forget that one day soon I will check the overdue lists and all children who have no overdue will get a prize. It might just coincide with a special book day…..!

I am very excited to now be offering coffee etc to parents, carers and staff here at St Thomas.
Just thought I would share a few practicalities:
