Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Monday we had the official opening of our refurbished hall. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to thank a large number of people who worked collectively on the project. I would like to acknowledge and thank the official party who were in attendance for the opening. It was a pleasure to welcome:
Daniel McInerny, our school’s Deputy Chair of the SCC;
Yvette Berry, the ACT Minister for Education;
Ross Fox, the Director of Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn;
Fr Praveen who officially blessed the hall during the liturgy;
Tim Elliot, the School and Family Services Leader in CECG;
Dominic Braybon, our school’s Performance Improvement Leader;
Patrick McCardle, Vicar for Education
Anthony Jaksic and Geoff Whitnall from the Planning and Facilities team in CECG;
Paul Barnett, from Paul Barnett Design Group;
Aron Binutti from Binutti Constructions;
Peter Wright and Tara O’Keefe from the ACT Block Grant Authority;
The best fete in Canberra is back!
The fete committee are putting the finishing touches on what has been a monumental effort thus far in getting everything organised for the big day. I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day and also seeing the excitement on your child/ren’s faces.
We have Treasure Trove drop offs occurring this afternoon between 2:30pm – 4:00pm in the Parish Centre and also on Saturday 4 November between 1:00 – 4:00pm at the school hall. This Sunday is also an opportunity to put your apron on and come to the school canteen between 9:30am – 12:30pm to do some baking for the cake stall. In addition, if you are able to help on the day in any capacity or can assist with setting up on Friday 10 November, please click on the link below to let Erin Maher, our stall coordinator know.
Yours in Christ,
Susan Chant
Assistant Principal
RE Term 4 Week 3 - "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6)
Term 4 – The Truth
This week Year 2 taught us about the Parable of the Sower through community prayer. We take some time to think about areas in our life that are thriving, where we might need to prune or cut back, and what needs to grow. For World Teacher’s Day, we take time to pray for the teachers that have helped us and our families to grow throughout our life.
Confirmation news
There will be two Confirmation Masses on 17 November to cater for the 46 students being confirmed. The times are 5:15pm and 7pm. Families of candidates, please see the Compass notification to nominate your preferred Mass time. All members of the school community are welcome to attend either of these Masses to support these students.
Kambah Youth Rally
A big thank you to Chiara Strmota for running the Kambah Youth Rally. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful Youth Minister working in our school. About 30 students attended the activities on Saturday including games, drama, a talk and the Rosary. This was followed by Mass and pizza. The students had a fun, engaging and reflective time together.
Kind regards,
Geoff Ryan
