Dear Parents and Carers,
Spring has sprung and you could definitely feel it in the air this morning. We were so thrilled to see so many families here at school today for our “Father’s Day” coffee and donut morning.
The children recited a short poem for their dads and special people in their lives and we also played a beautiful song about dads. It was called “Not all heroes wear capes”. The link is here if you would like to listen to it on Sunday.
Thank you for making the effort to celebrate with us today. This school thrives on being a welcoming and vibrant community and that was certainly the case this morning.
We hope all our dad’s, grandads, and special people in the lives of our children have a wonderful day on Sunday.
Dad I feel so lucky
To have you and Granddad too
Such special people in my life
To love me like you do
You know that I like Batman,
And Superman's cool too,
But I don't need movie heroes,
As long as I have you!
I LOVE YOU
Teacher Intensive Training on the holidays
During the Term 3 School Holidays, Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn are running a teacher training program here at St Thomas the Apostle School about high impact teaching in literacy and numeracy.
We are looking for students who would be interested in participating in lessons as part of the three day program.
Through the program, your child will
- Participate in highly engaging literacy and numeracy lessons
- Build their confidence in core literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience the high impact teaching approach and know what to expect when their teacher uses it in the classroom
Thank you to the parents who have already registered your child for this. More information can be found in the flyer that can be accessed below. The link to register your child is also below.
Good Wishes to Mrs Rastar
Today is Aimee Rastar’s last day of teaching before the birth of her baby. We wish Aimee and Matt all the very best as they welcome their baby son into the world in the very near future.
Enjoy the Spring Weather this weekend.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson

RE Week 7 - Our Common Home - Connecting with God
“Preach the Gospel always, use words when necessary.” (St Francis of Assisi)
There will be many opportunities to put words into action over the next few weeks. This year we have learned about the ways we can connect with creation, each other and God. This morning we had our Father's Day celebration. What a wonderful way to connect with others, acknowledge and celebrate our wonderful community at St Thomas.
Here is an overview of some special days coming up before the end of term. Talk about these special days with your child. Each event is about raising awareness as well as physical support including donations and fundraising.
RUOK? Day
RUOK Day reminds us about the importance of checking in with others, making sure we take the time to have conversations with those who are struggling.
Social Justice Day
On Friday 16th September (Week 9) we will hold a social justice day. This will be a fundraiser for our global school partnership with Charcha Kiomanga Academy in Kenya. The students will complete activities to gain an understanding of what life is like for the students at Charcha Kiomanga and enjoy a special Kenyan lunch from the canteen.
Creation Day
We will celebrate the lovely spring weather on the last day of term (23rd September). Students will be invited to wear bright colours to school on the day and bring a donation to support our school garden. This could be a seedling for the school veggie garden, a native plant to add to a new garden bed, or supplies for the garden club (kids tools, gloves, etc.) to encourage students to engage with creation. There will be a working bee at the beginning of Term 4 where you can help too!

This week we had our final Book Week celebration with a show from Performance Education.
"Marley wakes up full of excitement and expectation. She’s been dreaming that she has written the most marvelous story and now she’s awake it’s time to set about making it happen. However, the road to creating her story is much more difficult than it first seems.
What happens in dreams often isn’t how things turn out and Marley finds herself embarking on a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. To reach a destination where ‘dream comes true’ she must overcome some pretty significant obstacles."
The students joined Marley on their journey to discover the challenges of making dreams come true. St. Thomas the Apostle students should be very proud of their amazing engagement during the performance. Well done!
