Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is Catholic Schools Week and also the beginning of our enrolment period for 2023 (unbelievable I know).
On Tuesday we had our Open Day for prospective families in 2023. A huge thank you must go to our Year 6 SRC and school leaders who conducted the tours of our school for parents and carers considering an education for their children at St Thomas the Apostle school. They did a fantastic job of this, though they would have like to have had more people to show around (they were just so keen). We will have another Open Morning on Saturday May 14th from 9am until 11am. If you know of any families who have children ready for Kindergarten in 2023, please let them know that this is on. Word of mouth is our best advertising. We also have postcards with all the dates on them. These are available at the front office if you would like one to give to families considering coming here. There is also a QR code on the back that links directly to the enrolment application page.
Reporting for 2022
This is to let you know the timing for our Semester 1 Reporting and Parent Teacher Meetings. In Weeks 8 and 9 (week starting June 15th) you will be invited to choose a time to have a meeting with your child’s teachers. This can be in person or on a TEAMS meeting. This will be an opportunity for teachers to discuss in depth with you how your child is progressing academically (as well as socially, emotionally). This will be followed in Week 10 with an A-E performance report and will be available to you, as it was last year, via the Parent Portal on Compass.
Democracy Sausage
We will be holding an election day barbecue here on May 21st. We hope that many of you may be available for an hour or two to help out with this. There will be more about this sent out via Compass.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson
Principal
Our term focus is connecting with others. We will look at the way we interact with others and look for ways to support people in our community. The symbol of Abraham’s tent comes from Old Testament scripture. Abraham and Sarah offered hospitality for three strangers who turned out to be God’s angels.
Abraham's tent represents a place of shelter and refuge where dialogue is encouraged. It is also a sign of simplicity, reminding us of what is essential. May we be especially aware about creating spaces where people are welcome this term.
