Dear Parents and Carers,
It was wonderful to see so many of you here on Wednesday for our SHoW afternoon. Our classes were abuzz with excitement and chatter as your children shared all their work with you. In one class I could see students teaching their parents using gestures and the interactive whiteboard. What a pleasure that was! It is no small feat putting together an afternoon like this, so while I thank you for valuing your child’s education, I also thank each and every teacher for their time and dedication.
On Monday evening, Miss Salcedo and I had the privilege of attending the Canberra final of Rostrum, where Mikayla G represented our school. Her speech was titled Beyond the Horizon where she spoke about striving to achieve your goals even amidst adversity. Mikayala was up against some stiff competition and presented her speech with courage and clarity. While she did not come away with the trophy, her parents, family and school could not be prouder of her accomplishments. Congratulations Mikayla!
I hope and trust you take the next two weeks as an opportunity to rest and recharge with your families. By all accounts Mrs Jamieson is having a fantastic holiday in Europe. It’s not good enough to stay there though so she shall be back at school with us all on Monday 9 October!
Yours in Christ,
Susan Chant

Mission Day/Socktober
On Friday in Week 1 students in Year 5/6 will hold a fundraising day for Catholic Mission’s Socktober. Students can pay $5 or $10 for a family to participate in the many activities Year 5/6 have planned. If you would like to sponsor entry for another student or donate further, your child can bring in an extra $5. Students can wear any socks to school on Thursday.
All money raised will go towards Socktober as part of Mission Month. Catholic Mission supports vulnerable children facing malnutrition and food insecurity in Timor Leste. You can visit the following website to learn more about Socktober or donate further. https://www.socktober.org.au/
Vinnies
Thank you for all the generous donations for Vinnies this term. Many items have been passed on to the Kambah Conference and go to people in need.
Global School Partners
Please see attached newsletter about Global School Partners. Unfortunately, the Charcha Kiomanga Academy is no longer a viable school due a number of factors. We are now supporting a new school called St Thomas! The newsletter will introduce you to the school and there will be more information to come next term.
