Principal's Message
What a wonderful day we had at school today!
To begin the day, our Year 5 and 6 students ran Mission Day activities throughout the morning, raising money for Catholic Mission. Catholic Mission is the Pope’s International Mission Agency in Australia. It partners with communities helping them to flourish to providing grassroots projects including healthcare, education and spiritual care. While raising money, our students were provided with valuable learning opportunities as well as a whole load of fun!
We then had our annual Talent Show where our students had an opportunity to share their talents with the students. After this we held our annual Will Lipscombe Awards. Will Lipscombe was a past student at our school who sadly passed away in 2015. The Will Lipscombe Art Award has been held at St Thomas the Apostle Primary School since 2015. The theme for this year’s art was hope which ties in closely with the Jubilee Year of Hope throughout the Catholic Church. The winners for each year level are:
Kinder – Noah H
Year 1 – Sofia T
Year 2 – Peyton S
Year 3 – Tiana T
Year 4 – Zoe G
Year 5 – Heather Q
Year 6 – Alicia L
Our overall winner this year was Amelia N in Year 6.
It was great to see so many parents, carers and families come to the school on Wednesday afternoon for our Sh.O.W, “Sharing our Work” afternoon. Your children love sharing their learning and it was wonderful to see so many of you engage with your children, and a few of you even had special tasks to complete! Speaking of learning, as the end of Term 3 approaches, we can reflect on what ten weeks of learning looks like for your child/ren. Ten weeks may not seem that long, but when we look at the level of engagement in each classroom, so much was learnt.
In Kindergarten I saw students making more connections each day with reading and writing. In Year One, students were learning about ancient Mesopotamia. The Year 2 students were making connections between Jesus’ teachings and actions and the way members of the church community live today. In Years 3 and 4 the students were learning about symbiotic relationships in Biology. The students in Years 5 and 6 read the book The Grandest Bookshop in the World. This is just a small snapshot of the learning in each grade! At all times, our teachers ensure their pedagogy (the way they teach) is aligned to the bold goals of Catalyst, where High Impact Teaching Practices are visible in each classroom. The final pillar of teaching and learning is assessment. This is where our teachers gather data aligned to their teaching and make adjustments, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to improve their academic outcomes. After ten weeks of teaching and learning, it is no surprise that your children need a chance to rest and recharge and so do the teachers!
2025 Fete
If you haven’t saved the date in your calendar, 8 November must be locked away! Our fete committee has been working in overdrive over the past month and will continue to do so over the next 43 days leading up to the big event! If you have a spare hour or two throughout October, the committee would love your support! We have secured some places in Tuggeranong to sell our Pick a Prize tickets and here are the locations:
Bunnings Tuggeranong on 4 October between 9am and 3 pm.
Chisholm Village Shopping Centre on 11 October between 10am and 3 pm.
South Point Roof Top Markets on 12 October between 10am and 2pm.
South Point Shopping Centre outside Coles and Woolworths on 25 October between 9am and 5pm.
If you can spare an hour or two, please come to the front office and pop your name on the sign-up sheet.
Term 4 Happenings
On Monday 13 October, staff will be participating in a day of Professional Learning. The first day of Term 4 for students is Tuesday 14 October. Officially, students can wear their summer uniform, but if the weather is cool, winter uniform is allowed for the first two weeks of the term. The last day of Term 4 for students is Thursday 18 December.

Religious Education Coordinator
I am pleased to formally announce that Mrs Jacinta Housler has been appointed as our REC from 2026. Jacinta will be replacing Mr Geoff Ryan who is moving to Holy Family in Gowrie. We are confident that Jacinta will lead our community with grace and dedication.
Finally, we bid farewell to our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs Lauren Holt. Lauren is moving to France to be with her husband who is playing Rugby Union for FC Grenoble. Lauren has been a teacher at our school for nearly 6 years and has had such a positive impact on the lives of so many students and families. I wish Lauren all the very best as she embarks on this new chapter in her life and thank her for her unwavering dedication to the students at our school.
I hope you get the chance to rest and recharge with friends and family over the spring break.
Yours in Christ,
Susan Chant

Catholic Mission Day
The students in Year 5/6 ran brilliant activities to raise awareness for the work of Catholic Mission. Thank you for your generous donations via cash and purchase of the cupcakes!
This year we are raising awareness and funds for communities in Zambia, to help ensure children have access to food and education, giving them the chance to build a brighter future.
Sacramental Information
The students in Year 5/6 participated in the Confirmation Retreat Day on Friday 19 September. We thank students for the way they participated in the day. There were many different people who supported the day including Miss Strmota, Zawadi Le who made beautiful cupcakes for the students, Roselyn and Mega who were our parent helpers for the day. We truly appreciate all your support.
We keep the 49 students in our prayers as they prepare to celebrate this special sacrament on the 25 October at 6pm.
